My husband and I share lots of common interests and when we first met I taught him to sew and he made a lot of his hunting clothes and a dress shirt, which turned out pretty good! He plans on learning to use my MAQM once we get it up an running. But I am the expert when it comes to sewing in our relationship and he is the expert gunsmith and woodworker, BUT we can each hold our own in all of them.....it works out very well for us!!

My dad would help my mom cut - lining up and holding the ruler usually. He would put the pieces together for her so they were ready to be sewn. when she was ready to put into the frame he would help set it up and get the quilt in it but he wouldn't do any sewing on them.

Was funny to read this being single. My DD and SIL tell me I need to meet a man that quilts so we can share a hobby. Fat chance. He'd want access to my stash. And can you imagine if we ever divorced, he'd want visitation rights possibly even custody of some.

I think I'd give up quilting if DH decided he wanted to be involved. The only way I want my DH involved in my quilting is to pay for it. 8-) and that's the way he wants to be involved in it. :lol: :lol:

LOL I love all of your responses. 
It is encouraging too. I have quite a bit of that grooming, I suppose, since he is a construction worker! haha
But, I love this, we have a hobby shop with a connecting craft shop that carries fabric. That wouldn't be too far a stretch to get him in there.

There's no problem with 2-year olds and sewing space. Just have to put a gate/railing, whatever, between the two areas. Think of it as making two play areas separated with a barrier - your play area and his. I had a friend once with a couple of toddlers who loved to do handwork. She solved the problem by buying a large playpen - not for the kids, they could play all over the room - she was in the playpen with her pins, needles, threads, etc. Kids couldn't get to the items but had full access to mom.
