Wow, usually it's small cities i never heard of. I ck'd Colorado and Texas. one in TX is central Ft.Worth! i guess they have more though. what will the people in small towns do?

thanks for the info. i feel sorry that some will be losing their location. my post office is not on the list. however, we used to get our mail right after lunch, like clockwork. now, we are lucky to get it by 6:30pm. i chatted with the carrier yesterday who said the end of the route won't be delivered until 9pm. he said they start later and their routes are expanded.

It makes sense in many ways. I usually buy stamps at the grocery store. Today, I purchased some at the local UPS when I used them to send a package (instead of the post office). I can buy stamps on line and print postage and request package pickups. I pay the majority of my bills on line. I send emails instead of letters. I do still send birthday cards by mail. :-D

This is another sign of technology. I now pay alot of my bills online so I am sure I am part of the reason. I very seldom write a letter anymore. Its easier to send an email. It wouldn't seem like one persons use or lack of it would effect them but I am sure it does. Our post master is retiring next March and he said they won't replace him. They are also talking about not having any Sat delivery. Most everyone in our town gets their mail at the post office in a box there. We only have a limited amount of actual house delivered mail. We are in a small town in a rural area. crafty_linda_b

I'm a little surprised ours isn't closing, but then they don't deliver our mail either.

They are cutting their hours though, opening later and closing earlier. If I want to pick up a package I have to go home early from work or go early on Saturday morning. (You know, since they won't delivery the darned thing and our PO box is the size of a can of coke.) No sense in going at lunchtime, either - they close for an hour so they can all eat together in the back room. Awww.

Can you tell I have some attitude about my small town post office? LOL

a couple of years ago, our city closed 3 post offices and condensed them into a larger brandnew facility.

there are two in VT on the list that I am familiar with. The first one is within walking distance of another PO.
The second one, our assistant clerk subbed there for a week. She said, one day, all she did was sell one 44 cent stamp.

Some should be closed. The town next to us has 5 post offices for a population of about 2600.
