Welcome and congratulations on wanting to learn to quilt. It is a wonderful pastime and a great expressive medium. I only wish that more teenagers would think along your lines; thinking and planning ahead will prove to be most rewarding to you in the future.

I also loved the idea of doing something that has been a part of american culture for so many years. Plus, when i retire, i gotta have something to do :P I have been sewing people/doll clothes for the past three years, so i have good basic knowledge of pattern reading and working a sewing machine

I haven't actually started yet, but i've got a beginner's book and i am about to jump headfirst into quilting
Welcome and just remember to enjoy yourself and don't require too much OF yourself! I have the feeling you will do well.

Welcome to the board! Looks like you have a good plan! It took me a long time to get started, but it didn't take long to get hooked! I am also a creative person, and have tried my hand at most crafts. Prior to quilting, crochet and knitting were the prominent crafts for me, but a completed quilt just seems to be so much more than an afghan of sweater! I hope to see your projects posted on the board soon!

Welcome from the San Francisco Bay Area. Glad to see a teenager interested in sewing of any kind. I'm still trying to get my daughter to learn a few things. I think she's almost there. She's 26.

Welcome from Jonesborough, TN

Glad you are starting so young.
I helped my mother make a quilt when I was t 10, but it took me many many more years to get into it on my own.

Welcome from NJ, it's great to see a young one take up our artform.

Each summer I work with my 2 16 yr old nieces &we have a blast. Been doing it since they were 8.

Quilting is a lifetime art very rewarding.
