I have a few beginners books, but I tell ya.. the BEST thing I ever did for myself was to take a beginners "sampler" class from a good quilter. She kept me away from developing bad habits, and she taught me how critical it was to LEARN exactly what a 1/4" is on your machine. That's critical for ending up with squared blocks and a squared quilt.
Also.. I have nabbed some GREAT tips watching Youtube tutorials. They have a TON of quilting tips on there and sometimes WATCHING someone do something is easier to comprehend then reading it in a book.
This board has a GREAT tutorial board! Lots of good tips to be had in there too. Not to mention MANY seasoned quilters hang out here to share advice so you won't get frustrated. We've ALL made many many mistakes..it's how we learn...lol

welcome from Ohio. can't recomend a book; I pic up a magazine or buy a pattern here n there. Have not seen too many Cherri's spell our name this way either
