If you want to connect to the German quilting community, there's the www.quiltfriends.de group. (a bit more controlled than this lovely motley crew - but a good connection to the language at least)

at the Quiltfriends I'm known as "needles". When I joined it was exactly for the language reasons, although I haven't been too active lately.
