Hello everyone from Long Island, N.Y.

Hi everyone,
I am in awe of this message board! You are all so helpful and friendly and I love reading all the posts! I am a new quilter at a late age! I will celebrate the big 65 in September. I am finally retired as an R.N. and enjoying time to explore hobbies....I have joined a quilting guild, took some lessons at a senior center and a local quilt shop and now I have the fabric stash buying bug! What a fun wonderful way to meet ladies, make something beautiful and learn!
I am currently working on a quilt for my grandson. It is my first quilt and I also bought a new machine so I had quilt anxiety for a couple of times as I sewed alone. I found it hard to envision how a quilt becomes one until I made a few small projects such as a table topper (dresden plate) and a purse (that was an eye opener).....
Anyone have any thoughts on why my dresden plate table toppers pucker? I measure and sew right on the 1/4" seam...someone told me you have to cut only on the bias?
Thanks for any help!
