Welcome from Pecos in far West Tex. Congrats on new grandbaby. Double congrats on your weight loss, I hope you are now in good health. My daughter has a weight problem and I know how hard she works on hers. I worry about her health. Glad to have you on board. I lived in W. Va. for 7 yrs in the 60's and in Ky. for 2 yrs. But I am a native Texan. I think you will just love this board, I am not an old timer here but everyone makes you feel like you've been here from the beginning.

I'm on a diet of 1500 calories a day, I walk everyday ( I'm up to 1 and 1/2 miles ) and I do leg and arm exercises while I'm listening to music or watching something on tv ( I try to spend 30 minutes a day doing that ). I've lost over 250 lbs since Dec 24, 2008 and I'm at 375 lbs. now and I still have about 250 lbs to go to reach my goal. I thought about surgery and did much research on gastric bypass and decided it is to risky a surgery to have but did seriously consider having the gastric sleeve surgery done. I finally decided that regardless wether I had surgery or not I would still have to deal with my addiction to food and learn how to eat it properly. So that is what I've done to loose my weight so far. My diet consists of 3 meals a day breakfast, full meal at lunch , and a lighter meal at supper and a snack mid evening. I have not cut out any foods, just learned how to take the fat out of what I eat and in the prep of the foods. I eat proper portions and the only diet foods I eat are splenda instead of sugar and I also watch my sodium intake since it makes you hold water. I also drink a lot of water and limit myself to at most 1 diet soda a day but usually only 2 or 3 a week. That is how I have lost the weight so far.
