Now I'm in Fiji-to answer your question, How about putting a pillow fold at the top-it will add length without making the quilt look lopsided or off-balance. It will add approx 1 1/2 to 2 feet (depending how wide you want). I don't know what it looks like, but if you have a basic background fabric in a neutral color, add the pillow fold extension at the top of the length and maybe a themed applique of African symbols or a couple of animals stretched across where they are positioned right over where the pillows would lay. I posted a quilt I made in blue on a white background that I did it on, plus a red/white/blue quilt with 2 American eagles on the pillow fold. Just an idea---

I am from near Toledo. We have a great quilting shop near me that has been so helpful in teaching me how to quilt. Since I'm newly retired, this is one of my new hobbies!
