Default Hello from Ontario, Canada

Hello,

I'm Lynda. I live 35 minutes northwest of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I am mom to two German Shorthaired Pointers. I am a runner and completed my longest race, a half marathon in November 2014.

I have been quilting since 2003. I a lot of baby quilts. I make brightly coloured quilts and my favourite pattern is One Block Wonder. I have made two and am about to start my third.

I am desperate to learn to free motion quilt, but first I need a machine that will cooperate.

I look forward to being here and learning and sharing.

Lynda

Hello from south west Ontario, about 2 hours from Toronto!
Free motion quilting is a "practice, practice, practice" kind of thing. Leah Day has lots of helpful advice on her website and there's always someone here who can help.

Welcome from Southern California. There is a lot of practice that is needed to get your FMQ skills up to speed. Support for you quilts are very important so you don't fight the weight of the quilts. I found it easier to practice FMQ following a marked line. Then you just have one thing to concentrate on: the moving of the quilt following the lines. Good Luck!
