hi from Down Under!
... my name is Sharyn, i live in the Hunter Region in NSW, Australia with my husband and 2 kids.
2 years ago my mom passed away from cancer and she left me her sewing machine. I've always wanted to start sewing for my daughter - make her dresses as she is very girly. however i've since gotten sidetracked and thought about making quilts, i've seen them and i think they are so beautiful, unique and one of a kind. So i have alot of fabric that i've bought from various stores and im very excited to start making some thing that resembles a quilt ...
Anyways before i start boring people LOl i look forward to learning so much from you lovely ladies (and gents)

Welcome from Texas. I think you will enjoy quilting but it's very habit forming. 
Before long it will be more important than a clean house! Sounds like you are off to a good start with a machine & fabric. There are many, many very talented quilters on this board who will be more than willing to help you with any questions you may have. Don't be shy & remember....we love to see pictures of your projects.
