Hello, I am a 50 year old quilter who has been quilting on and off for about 25 years, but now that my son has gone off to University am intending to commandeer his room during term times for more serious work. I am intrigued by all the USA sites at how cheap your fabric is there. On average I pay between £8 and £12 per yard for fabric here, so for me it is very much an art form and I generally have to but what I need for each quilt. I was a member of Romsey Quilters for a while and hope to join again in the near future. I love the variety of quilting you are all doing.

I made this quilt for my son to take to University as a 'HUG' from me, surprisingly he makes his bed every day and puts the quilt on. He says!

Welcome from Duluth, Minnesota on beautiful Lake Superior. So many new folks and many from so far away. What a great place the Quilting Board is to meet new folks.

A big welcome from an English woman living in Ireland. We have the same pricing problems here that you do, and I am always green with envy when other board members mention some of the prices they pay. I do buy quite a lot of fabric online, and often find that it gets here to me cheaper than local prices, even taking shipping into account. Also, here, as in the UK, customs duty is due on imported cotton fabrics. (I used to sell quilting fabrics in the UK, and the first time this happend to me, I was so indignant about it).

Having said that, in all the parcels I have ordered, I have only rarely have had to pay customs duty. So it seems to me that it often isn't applied to individuals. Long may it continue.

Hello, and welcome from Missouri! The quilt you made for your son is beautiful! I would make my bed every day, too, if I had that to show off!

Hi from Oklahoma! I have spent 2 weeks the last 2 years in the Ukraine. We were in Perechyn helping to build a church. I love it there. It was a great Christian experience. My daughter and son-in-law will be going again in May.
I was not aware of any quilters, in fact I could not find any fabric while I was there. Also, could not find any in Budapest, my favorite of all the old cities.
