I'm in SA also. There are several of us that I know about here. If you are interested, send me an email on the private messages section and I'll share some of their info with you or try to see if we can all meet for lunch or something.

Three of us did this once already and it was a lot of fun.

Hi Debbie. I'm DebraMc from Palestine. Me and Lisa are in east Texas. BeBe is always on posting, she's from San Antonio. I'm coming to San Antonio on Thursday. Do you know if there are any fabric or quilt shops around the River Walk? That's where I'll be for a few days. You will have lots of fun here. Wonder how we get any sewing done, playing here all the time. Have a fun day. Hope it's not as hot in SA as it is here. Yeah right! 8)

No, I don't get downtown much - prefer not to. But Bebe might know. She knows where all of the shops are.

Hey Bebe - can you help her out?

I go to Creative Sewing Center on West Avenue, but it is not near downtown.

And, sorry, but we've been way above average on the heat - feels more like August than June. Also less than 4" of rain this year - down 10" - everything is drying up. They have banned outside fires and farm welding if that gives you any idea of the severity of the dryness.

Debra

This one is in the downtown area, but I don't know much about it because I haven't been there. Here is their website. Hope you have fun while in San Antonio.

Hey thanks for info. Husband will be at a school board mini conference all day so I thought I might wander out instead of being cooped up in hotel all day. A few years ago my son and and I took the trolley to the market a few blocks from hotel. Was kinda disappointed. Was hoping for open air type market but I think that is always on weekends. Same for Corpus Christi always on Sat. But I know we will have a good time. Is there a reason you don't get downtown like too many tourists or crime? I know things can get bad in big cities (husband is in law enforcement). Thanks again Deb 8)

Debra, I worked in downtown Austin for 24 years (commuted from San Antonio for 9 of them) and try to avoid downtowns anywhere. No problems with going downtown in SA - we do once in awhile. In fact, there is a shop in downtown SA that is the only place I purchase clothes for my husband - Penner's.

It's really pretty along the river - we do take visitors there - and if you get a chance you should go on the Mission tour to see all of the Spanish missions - it's worth the time.

I just prefer less crowded places - in fact, if I could move to our farm that is about 30 minutes south of SA, I would do that. Just not feasible right now.

SA is really a lot of fun.
