Welcome from South Dakota.. I am just a newbe too.. I have only done about 3 quilts with cottons. I started using old denim. I made about 10 of those.. They are nothing like piecing with cotton. I have done some t-shirt quilts also. They are fun. It is a fun hobby. The most important thing is with every quilt I do I learn something. Don't be afraid to ask any questions... lots of willing help on this forum.

Hello from Ontario, Canada! A good place to start is with a Nine Patch pattern. If you feel really daring...go to the tutorials and read how to do a Dissapearing Nine Patch (D9P) Jump right in, you'll soon be swimming with the rest of us!
