Hey Y'all from south MS!

I just found you today & joined. This looks like a great place for quilters!
I'm from south MS, about 35 miles north of Pascagoula. We were here during Katrina & watched about 18 of our pecan trees go over. No damage to our house or out buildings, except for one tree that just laid down on top of the barn. It stuck one small finger sized hole in the metal roof & that was all! We are truly blessed.
I've been married for almost 34 years & have 2 children, 3 grandchildren & 3 dogs.
I got into quilting back in 2003 when I got my first really cheap sewing machine. I absolutely love it!
We got our first frame system in 2005 & that made it so much easier to quilt my quilts. We got a Gammill Classic Plus in July 2007 & started a quilting business in Oct 2007. And we're doing well too.
I'm hoping to get to know you better & having some good discussions on quilting & life in general.

Welcome from Southern California. I saw you on chat!!! I have the daughter in Iraq right now. You were making the Quilts of Valor quilts wern't you? I have made several of the Home of the Brave quilts, Unfortunately they were given to family members of my daughters unit while in Afghanistan. One was a close friend of hers, spent her last night sleeping in her hootch with her. Anyway, thanks for making the quilts!!! If I had more time (ie, no work) I would try and get a lot more out to both of those organizations. Someday I would like to get a long-arm. Just got a DVD in the mail from Gammill..... It will have to wait a few years. Anyway, welcome to the board!!! :)

thanks so much for the welcomes!
Yes, we've quilted a bunch of quilts for the organization out of Washington state called American Hero Quilts this year. These 2 are the first ones that I'll be making from start to finish for the quilts of valor. If I can just get it to quit ticking me off by being just a smidgen off! LOL
I plan to be around here quite often so just talk to me!
