Hello, my name is Barbara, and I live in Andover, Hampshire in England.
I have loved sewing since forever, but have started learning to quilt since the beginning of this year. I can't get to classes, so have been learning from books, the internet and mostly this site!
When I first started, I was surprised at how much there was to learn, and the more I learn, the more I discover just how varied a craft it is.
Can I just say what an inspiration you all are. The quilts you create are all so beautiful and so often awesome. If I can produce something half as good I will be happy.
I have learnt so much from all the great advice you offer. I am not able to spend as much time as I would like quilting (who can!), but I get my 'fix' from the message board and your cheerful comments.
I am currently finishing my first quilt, a small one for our cat (he won't be too critical!) so I shall share a photo then. Thanks again for all that great advice it really helps.

Welcome from northeast CA. Glad you joined us. Please post a picture when you're done with your first one. This is the best place to learn, if you're having a problem or don't know how to do something, just ask, I'm sure someone will be able to help you. A lot of us are also self taught.
