Hi - I'm new to any quilting forum!
Hi, happy to be here. I'm Bonnieba from Long Island and I have been making quilts for about 3 1/2 years using my year old Juki F400 for FMQ. It is an amazing, hard-working machine, and I love it, BUT that's why I am here. After a big king project, it started making a strange noise near the bobbin case only when the thread/ bobbin is inserted, and I wanted to see if anyone here has an F400 or F600 and experienced anything like that. I have a feeling it must be very simple but I'll be darned if I can figure it out. But maybe this is the wrong forum to post this in? If so, Would you tell me if there's anywhere I can ask for ideas? Thank you very much!!

Welcome from South Louisiana. I can't help you with the Juki. Hope you get an answer.
For me, strange noises usually mean my Brother jumped time and I have to take my machine to the shop. And, it won't sew at all. My long arm is an older Nolting. I've never had extra noises in the bobbin area. Just on the top side and it's usually because I don't have the it threaded correctly or the thread has slipped out of the tension discs. Sometimes, my bobbins aren't threaded evenly and will cause glitches. I know this is not really what you are talking about, so I know this probably won't help you.

Welcome from New York state! I hope you find the problem with your machine and that it's a relatively easy fix. When is the last time you had a tune up? Do you clean out the bobbin regularly? Mine will have quite a bit of lint built up after every project and sometimes in the middle of a project too!

Hi Barb in Louisiana! Thanks for your reply and welcome! I am open to any ideas that will make me think of something new to do. It could be the timing but then I'd think that it would sound terrible when the thread is out. But I could be wrong on that.
I bet Cajun Country is beautiful this time of year and a LOT warmer than the snow and ice we have all over today. Have a great day! - Bonnie

Hi orangeroom,
Thanks for your reply and welcome. Well, never had a tune up since I didn't buy from a dealer, but bought it from Amazon. Maybe that was a lousy idea. Hoping that I can handle a fix if it's simple enough. I do keep it well cleaned out in and under the bobbin case - maybe I missed a giant wad of lint in some area?! It's a possibility. I just don't get why it purrs beautifully when I remove the top thread and bobbin. Thanks for your suggestions. I appreciate them! - Bonnie
