Welcome and don't be afraid. I was very leery of trying FMQ and yeah I messed up a lot, but now it is just plain fun. That old saying about practice makes perfect is true, just make some sandwiches and play around with them.

Thanks for the advice - bought a walking foot and a stitch in the ditch foot.

Just get out a practice sandwich and start sewing. Once you get the rhythm, start on the quilt.

All the advice here is great. Practice, practice. Eventually you and your machine will become one and your quilting will be wonderful.
