I grew up in Kansas, so moving back to a colder climate wasn't much of an adjustment. I know that SoCal natives have a very hard time leaving the climate. But we started seeing how crazy the housing market was getting in 2005-06, so we decided to "cash out" and move to a cheaper place. Looking back, we left near the top of the market, but that's not saying we were smart, since some of the profit went into the stock market and you see where that is headed! At least part of the cash bought the longarm and a house were it can have its own room!
I've been back to SoCal once since leaving and HAD to stop at M&L's in Anaheim and See's Candies and Rubio's. At least I can order See's Candies on the internet, but I sure do miss the fish tacos!

M&L fabrics can be a very dangerous place!! My first visit I spent over $250, fortunately (or unfortunately) it is not real close to the freeway and so out of the way when driving down to visit my parents in Mission Viejo. I am a born and raised So Californian, have lived other places, don't do real well in really cold or gray rainey weather.

Rubio's are beer battered Mahi Mahi, topped with cabbage and a white sauce (like tartar, but different), I never liked the white sauce, so I would just use regular salsa. YUM!!

Yes, very good. However I like shrimp taco's better, they are not deep fried.

Oh yeah, and I like the sauce on them better.....

Oh, and I can't forget Wahoo's rice. Give me Rubio's fish taco and Wahoo's rice. Chipotle tries to replicate Wahoo's rice, but its not the same.
