    Welcome from New Hampshire
Let us know, when the time draws nearer, where you expect to be going in the USA. Board members can then tell you what's happening and worth seeing in those areas.

Hello and welcome from an Iowa Girl!
I, too, am a GD of Swedish immigrants. As a child when they started talking in Swedish I knew they were planning something special for us! My mother did not speak English when she started kindergarten; learned the language and taught the rest of the family how to speak.
Have a great time searching for quilts here in USA. I just Googled "USA quilt museums" and came up with some excellent sites for you to investigate. This one has a lot of info.

Greetings from Northern California. I'd suggest that you make a general plan of your travels. Then you can check the internet for quilt stores in each area and see which ones are worthy of a visit. Better check with your airlines about weight restrictions on the luggage. You will want to leave lots of space for fabrics.
