I've been reading your board for a few days now and thought I'd jump in.
I am from the Chicago area. I watched a quilting show last week and got it in my head that I wanted to try it. The woman made it look so easy! Altho, now that I'm reading more, I'm thinking it's not so easy. I'm still determined to try it tho.
I'm thinking that I'd like to get to the point where I am doing the quilting for others, as a side business out of my home. Get one of those long-arm machines with the frame. Eventually. One day. I've got a long way to go yet as I haven't even done one block yet. Yes, i'm ambitious
Anyway, I'd like to try a pillow first, then move on to a twin size quilt for each of my boys. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions, but I have a few things to do first. Have to get my sewing machine looked at and re-taught to me. I can't figure out the bobbin for the life of me! I want to take a class to learn the basics of quilting. I haven't really done any sewing since 8th grade. But I'm excited to get started!
I'm looking forward to getting to know you all and learning from you!

If I lived over there I would love to do exactly what you are ambitious for....to set myself up in business quilting....what a great job!! :D
