Hi Good morning from Washington! I have posted a quilt already, but just want to say thank-you for all your wonderful compliments! I have been quilting for a few years, it is my passion love it, I commission quilts, do charity quilts and I also have a long arm quilter so I keep very busy. I was asked to do beginner classes for quilters in this new year. Do you have and suggestions as to where to start and which blocks to teach. There is so much to learn! The learning curve just gets bigger and bigger everyday! I have never been on a message board before, but really enjoying it and learning new things along the way Thank-you

Welcome and waving from Arkansas! We're happy to have you join the ranks. Maybe a Disappearing 9 Patch for your class.

Welcome from Colorado. As LeeAnn said, a Disappearing 9 Patch would be a really good choice for beginners---covers measuring, cutting, matching points, block squaring and ends up being really pretty and everyone's would be very different. Good Luck with your class.

Hi and welcome from Alaska. A friend and quilter here is visiting in WA and she said it has rained the whole time she was/is there. My first class that consisted of two days taught the Ohio Star. I think that one is complicated for the first one but I learned so much from that class. Yellow Brick Rd might be an easier one.

Welcome from Wyoming when teaching a beginner class depends on how involved do you want to get and or students the sampler quilt is wonderful as it teaches so many techniques I started with the rail fence block on to log cabin the honey "B" block as it teaches matching points and some applique there are many good blocks that you can find on Quilterscache.com Good luck
