Welcome to the Quilting Board Jackie. I'm from sunny Nevada! I know all about small sewing rooms. We recently downsized a bit, and my sewing room is much smaller in this house. It was a real task to get almost everything to fit, and then I had to leave things out. But I'm not whining. Lots of people don't even have sewing rooms. We'll be happy for your input on the quilting posts, and feel free to ask all the questions you'd like. You will always find a sympathetic - and knowledgeable - ear on this Board. So lots of help, support, inspiration and camaraderie here!

Tell your daughter to have the quilt dry-cleaned. It will come out better, and stay clean longer if it's not crammed into a washing machine where all parts of the quilt can't possible be saturated with the soap solution, nor can it be properly rinsed to get the soap out so it doesn't attract dust and dirt to the quilt.

I take my quilts to the local laundromat where they have some extra large machines, and wash them on gentle with a bit of a soak system planned in. Then I rinse twice: first time with vinegar, to get the soap out, and the second time with plain water. NO fabric softener, as it attracts dust and dirt. The vinegar works as a fabric softener anyway.

Welcome from Illinois! I too love quilt retreats! I don't get to go much - but they're fun when I do!

Welcome from Cold Dallas Tx. I find my whole house cluttered with sewing.

Hello from another Northern Hoosier! I never formally introduced myself to the board (yikes) but welcome. I noticed another from the top end......Maybe sometime we should all meet somewhere at a centrally located quilt shop??? Or a casual day quilt-in????
