I found you!
Good Day Friends! I am new to this forum. I just started quilting again after around 25 years of doing other things. Mostly paper crafting. I am seeing lots of crossover techniques, although quilting lingo and paper lingo are quite different. Quilting uses lots of initials. I'm forever asking my quilting buddy what such and such means. So.....If I should get confused and have to ask for clarification, please bear with me.
I'm happy to see that this board is so active! I think I am going to learn lots of fun stuff here.

Welcome from New York. You WILL love it here I am sure! It is the most active craft board I've ever been on! I also took many years off from quilting but am back with it again in addition to other crafts. Welcome!

Welcome to the board! As far as initials go. They're pretty simple. DGD= dear granddaughter, DMIL= dear mother in -law, D usually stands for dear, s=son, SIL can also mean son, sister etc. Some where here on the board is a list of abbreviations. Pretty simple Oh and FW usually refers to the smaller feather weight (light weight) sewing machines. Have fun.
