I found my son's old postage stamp quilt and it was pretty worn out with lots of holes, thinking of trying to salvage parts of it and make a new quilt top for his queen size bed. Any ideas about how to go about it?

welcome from Indiana. If you cut out the sturdier sections and maybe put a sashing (that blends the two dif. quilts) around them and add them as blocks to the new quilt.

If the fabrics are fragile, what about ironing on a stabilizer on the back, cut out the best parts and proceed from there. They could be the feature blocks mixed in with some simple ones.

can you post a picture of it?!

stabilize it ,like suggested, and maybe make a crazy quilt out of it..not so much embellishments, but different shapes..with fancy stitches joining the pieces...mixed with a solid color..
