Hi, all
#1
I joined tonight. I have been quilting awhile but haven't made a lot of finished quilts, (not a fast bone in my body). I have finished a few, a couple of baby quilts for friends and family (neice) and a queen size for one of 4 sisters. I've several tops cutout yet to piece also. I have been trying to design a Red Hat throw for another sister for some time in my head just can't seem to get all the ideals worked out on paper or PC. I am single ( which doesn't seem to be the norm on here) middle age living with my aged Dad whom I drive everywhere now. And I have a outdoor cat which is my furry shadow when I work in the yard. Lord blessed me with her to replace the one the wild critters got some years back. Well, I think that is introduction enough, I am sure you agree.

If you aren't already you will find yourself truly hooked on quilting in short order with a stash that takes over to the point you may even have to invent ways to hide it. I have gotten where I can not hardly go to Wal-mart without at least looking through the fabrics and rarely leave without something some of the employees know me on sight.

Welcome to the best quilting forum there is. I joined about two weeks ago, have only been quilting about 8 months and have become a regular quilting fanatic, good thing I live alone and have no pets or they would starve. When I get started I don't want to stop.
You will find lots of wonderful ideas and answers to any question you could possibly dream up, if someone doesn't know the answer they will give you a web site that does.
Have lots of fun on her and with your quilting.

Oh Oh, I have a feeling we are a bunch of Wally Worldys here (we call it Wally World) The ladies know me in two Walmarts. I live in Greenville, SC which is slowly growing but for some reason have a Walmart in every town. So I actually have four Walmarts I can go to. And none have stopped with the fabric. Some days the fabric is awesome. The manager told me they sometimes get really good fabric that the big manufacturers can't sell at the top price because of flaws so they try to get that fabric. I know it is true because I have got some awesome fabric in their dollar table. And I know what day of the month everything comes in. Okay now I am bragging. But so many put Wally World down and I personally have done quilte well. :D There is a quilt shop I just found and I try to shop there but my purse just can not afford to pay the prices. Very high! The sale prices are $8.oo a yard. Whew. I do better on line even paying shipping. But I like to feel the fabric. Okay I have realy gabbed on now. Guess I should let someone else talk. Again welcome everyone. This is the best forum!!

Hi, this is Bobbie. I wrote to the quilting board while I was in Fl, visiting my mom. I am home now and wanted to tell you something about myself.
I am 60, married 40 years, have a boy and a girl and they have collectively, given us 5 precious grandchildren.
I own a Home Inspection business, National Property Inspections,
Staunton, IL. and my husband Jim and my son Brett both work for me as home and radon inspectors.
I tried quilting a bit in 1987, but it was one of those never-finished projects. 4 years ago, I decided to make another one, and Jimmy and I went and selected material (I inadvertantly "made up" a pattern (it is the rail fence pattern, sort of. I'd never seen a pattern book even, at that time!) Jimmy literally engineered the who thing, cut it out (and said never again!), and I sewed it together by hand! I tried putting it together (sandwiched) and basted it and even marked it (that was a disaster--this who project took me almost 2 years!), and then decided I couldn't do the quilting by hand and took it to the new lady up town that had a long arm quilting machine. Since then, in the last year, I have machine sewed 8 tops! (all twin size) 4 of them different size squared grannys), taken two classes in two different patterns, done a Thimbleberries Block of the month quilt, and am going to take a "crazy quilt" class on Saturday! I am also reading Jennifer Chiavierini's Elm Creek books, and absolutely love them as well as quilting. Now I'm done--can you tell I'm a talker? Thanks to everyone who answered all my questions when I first came on the quilting board. If anyone would like to e-mail me, my e-mail address is [email protected]. Thanks again to everyone who was SO sweet to me. And of course, Jesus is Lord of my life! Bobbie :D :D :D
