Welcome. Your quilt is Wonderful. It looks so detailed. Lots of hard work I'm sure. I'm going to try and post my first quilt tomorrow.

btw most of my string quilts have larger strings than most - like a wide one thru the middle then smaller ones on each side.

I plan on just using free motion quilting all over it with a spool of thread that has many different colors in it I think it's called striated thread. Will probably use a light weight batting some kind of polyester because the top already seems heavy due to the weight of the foundation muslim squares I used. Have considered no batting and that might be the way to go. Have you put one together with no batting and did it come out ok?

I am mentally planning my second one as soon as I get a couple of baby blankets finished in the coming week. I really enjoyed making my first string quilt and see many more in the future. Might try a color pattern next time around but who knows. Thank you for your response. Ellie

Both my kids graduated from OSU. They keep coming back and moving out and coming back again. aaa They love my quilts each have about 5 through the years and then the friends get one eventually too. Keeps me busy. Ellie

How about flannel instead of batting if you feel that you need something? I'm planning to do that for a coverlet for my son who lives in Southern California and can't use a warm quilt.
