I AM 83 YEARS OLD AND HAVE ONLY BEEN QUILTING FOR ABOUT 6 YEARS AND ENJOY IT IMMENSELY. THE ONLY PROBLEM IT IS GETTING TO BE TOO MUCH TO PUT A QUILT ALL TOGETHER. IT IS TOO HEAVY SO I HAVE STARTED MAKING JUST THE QUILT TOPS AND PLAN TO TRY TO SELL THEM. I CAN HANDLE THAT. I HAVE ONE MADE AND TWO READY TO PUT TOGETHER. I HAVE SO MUCH STASH THAT I WANT TO DO SOMETHING WITH IT. I HAVE MADE MY 4 CHILDREN, MY 9 GRANDCHILDREN AND MOST OF MY 27 G-GRANDCHILDREN (INCLUDING 12 THAT BELONG TO MY 2ND HUSBAND) QUILTS. I LOVE IN FLORIDA ALL YEAR AROUND AND LOVE IT BUT AM FROM MICHIGAN AND MISS IT. I HAVE BEEN HERE 19 YEARS WITH MY 2ND HUSBAND AND AM LOOKING FORWARD TO TIPS AND WHATEVER ELSE IS OFFERED.

Welcome to the board from Southern California!!!

There are lots of places that will take quilt tops for donation. My guild takes them and others in the guild will quilt them. Jan in VA puts together quilts to send to soldiers and she will take tops. There are probably people on board here who have Long Arms that would volunteer to quilt tops that are for donations.

Do you have a friend that can help you? I take mine to my church, push tables together and spray baste them with the help of my husband or some friends. Maybe you can recruit some of your grand children to help you sandwich them?

MY GRANDCHILDREN TO NOT LIVE NEAR. IT IS PUTTING THEM TOGETHER ON THE MACHINE THAT IS HARD. MY OLDEST DAUGHTER WOULD LOVE TO HELP BUT SHE IS IN MICHIGAN. I WILL HAVE TO PONDER THAT THOUGH. I COULD SEND HER THE TOP AND THE MONEY FOR THE REST AND WHEN SHE COMES DOWN, WHICH IS AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR, SHE COULD BRING THEM BACK. I WILL DISCUSS IT WITH HER. THANKS FOR THE TIP AND THE WELCOME

Maybe a Quilt As You Go would work better for you. That way you only have a couple of "bulky" seams to sew. Just a thought...
