Welcome from northeast Georgia. Where are you? I suggest you watch the notices in your local paper for a quilt guild and visit them. They will be able to answer a lot of questions about classes and other help. And guilds always have Show N Tell, for inspiration!!

find a great fabric store and they will give you info and get into a quilt guild that is friendly and with younger women who are not set in their ways. Find a few good buddies to hand and sew with and it's all great fun

Hi, and welcome from Oklahoma. I bought some books to get me started. Then I found this QB and picked up a lot of help/info from here. A good place to look at good tutorials is google Missouri Quilt Co and click on tutorials.
