I asked my friend and she brought her pattern and it was from a class she took in 2003. It is not in the shape of a tree. I also found one in an old Quiltmaker magazine from 1997-#58 and it is the shape of a tree. Maybe your library has a copy.

Thank you to all for the warm welcome. I'll have to dig into the archives from Quiltmaker and check their pattern out. The reason I am so focused on this particular pattern is that is will be marvelous as a prompt to teach my newly adopted grandchildren (5 year old twins from Ethiopia) the Christmas story of the nativity. Revealing the picture one day at a time should pique their imagination.

This is an adorable calendar, erstan947. Thank you for the link. The one I'm looking for does not have pockets for gifts; as the numbered triangles that make up the tree are lifted a diamond-shaped picture that is part of a nativity scene is revealed. Once you get to 25 Dec., the entire sceene is displayed within the tree shaped frame.
Welcome from Northern Louisiana! I did a google search and there are several possibilities. Here is one... http://www.etsy.com/listing/80875283...ed-wallhanging

That is not the one that is from Quiltmaker. I don't think I have seen one with a nativity. The Quiltmaker one has pockets for the little treats and so does the one my friend has made. You could always make the pockets and put small nativity figures in them.
