HI
I am so new to this, I love the blog, you all sound so wonderful. I have always wanted to make a 'crazy quilt' of velvet, satin and all the pretties. With lots of lace and fancy stiches.. so this it the Year! With a lot of 'good luck'!
I did read the note about sewing with a dress and doing it for the love of sewing. The lady who sent it sounds very sweet. In the good old days before 27/7 TV and way too much to do I"m sure that would have been, very sound advice.
I'm not so sure it was not a bit better in some ways. No distraction, just a love of hobby, and time to think about what you were doing and how you enjoyed it so! Happy New Year to All

Welcome and hope you enjoy it here, my first quilt block was a crazy quilt block which I made for 4-H. I remember the velvets and silks, and lace etc. It turned out beautiful, but I can't remember where it went. We learned the various embroidery stitches. Have fun making yours.

my very first quilt was a crazy patch one, used an old white sheet for the backing squares, and velvet scraps for the pieces and lots and lots of hand emboidery...

Hello, and welcome from Missouri! I made a crazy quilt when I got a new machine with lots of different stitches. It was a great showcase for the stitches, and lots of fun. It was all cotton from scraps I had from sewing fun stuff.
