Hello,
I am new at quilting, family and friends quilt but am just starting out. Any suggestions are welcome as to a good start - classes, books, a block at a time or a simple beginner quilt? How did you start and progress? I am handquilting a sampler I made from a book, trying different blocks but I get sort of confused and discouraged.
Thank you for any help.

Hi and welcome from Louisiana!
I just started quilting at the end of January. I took a 2 day beginner class where we made baby quilts from a charm pack. I liked having someone give me pointers, and I love to meet and sew with other people. I know some folks are self-taught, but I'm really a visual learner and have to see.

A great big welcome from the east coast - Massachusetts to be exact.
I sarted with small projects to get the hang for everything. Coasters, placemat, then table runners. Look on the doll quilt swap or table ruuner swap for ideas an inspirations.
Just remember - there are never any mistakes, just new learning opportunities.

Hi and welcome from New Hampshire! I started by taking a class as a local quilt shop. It was a great way to learn things and make some new friends. I now quilt with a group of 6 or 7 friends and it's great! We all help each other.
