Hey, there! I'm a newbie quilter. I stumbled on you guys while "researching". This seems like the friendliest site I've seen in 2 weeks of lurking everywhere. At least it is the first one I felt compelled to join.
My Mamaw was a quilter while I was growing up. I learned to hand piece random sraps into doll quilts as a toddler I think....LOL. But lost all interest in the craft as years went by.
Read a Jennifer Chiaverini book 2 weeks ago and decided I needed to make a quilt. I am working on a small 6 block sampler right now. I have made all my blocks and am working on sashing. All has been hand pieced.
It took me a bit to get used to the hand stitching again. I have been so reliant on my machine as an adult for my small sewing projects. But I really wanted my first attempt to be all hand sewn or I would have been done days ago.
I just wanted to introduce myself and say that I hope to find some friends here. I will take some pics of my sampler in the next few days and post them. Actually maybe not until next week since I have a charity banquet tomorrow and an overnight trip this weekend. But I would like to hear how some "experts' feel I am coming along.
Thanks for "listening"

Hello Tracy and welcome/ Sylvia here in England. I am sure that by the time you have been quilting for another year or so you will be able to pass on the knowledge that you have gained from the people here. They are brilliant. Where is SC?

Okay ladies, I'm back. And thanks so much for your encouraging words.
I finished the top with sashing and border yesterday in the truck. I am probably the only woman on the interstate piecing a quilt....LOL...
Now I am off to figure out how to post the pic in the pix board.
Wish me luck...

Yes, sorry, SC is South Carolina, Deep south, East Coast of the USA...You, know, Gone with the Wind kind of place. Cows for neighbors, deep fried foods, Sweetened iced tea. 95 degrees all summer, humidity to make you feel like a fish.
Pretty good picture right? LOL
