    Welcome from Pensacola, FL! I think basket quilts are so pretty. I know what you mean about sewing sideways. Machine quilting is still a challenge for me, but I know that practice will help:-)

    Welcome from Oregon! Baskets are a little tricky! I have done a couple of basket quilts with just a couple of wavey lines across the baskets and SID (stitch in the ditch). The background "filler" can be variable, whatever you choose to do.
