Time to introduce myself since I have been enjoying pictures and comments on The Board. I am a retired educator, and live with my husband, two very spoiled dogs and a cat about 5 miles outside of Soldotna, Alaska. Soldotna is on the Kenai River known world wide for it's marvelous sport salmon fishing. I really enjoy piecing many kinds of quilts, and have had the privilege of taking classes from some well known teachers. Not so enthusiastic about doing my own quilting....there are some really great quilters here...love seeing your work!

Hello from Ohio and welcome to the QB. There are many gifted quilters on here with answers to everything.

I have a son in the Air Force who is stationed at Eielson AFB in Fairbanks. He loves it there, especially because he doesn't like warm/hot weather.

Welcome from Nevada! I have a sister living in Fairbanks, AK. She loves it up there.

So why aren't you so happy with your own quilting? Is it the color, design, sewing, what? If you really want to become a great quilter, and are willing to put some work into it, you can do it! There are new techniques out there that make the piecing easier, and the importance of knowing value in color for putting your colors together is essential. You're an educator, which means you know how to learn. Apply that to your quilting, and you'd be unstoppable. You can learn what you need to learn right here, and we'd be more than happy to share with you.

Warmest Welcome!
