Hello from Healesville in Victoria, Australia. I've been reading the board for a while but only just worked out how to comment. You are all so encouraging to each other it is great to see. I belong to a few quilting groups, but at the moment are a bit stale. Fairly new to quilting i spend a lot of time looking at magazines and my fabric not knowing where to start. My avatar has a scrappy quilt my first one all done by hand except the small border which i put in by machine as worried about stretching fabric as lot on bias. I knew nothing about color value or rules of quilting, apparently put stars in wrong position. But i think it turned out ok! Have a few smaller ones that are not bound yet. like the other Aussie will show you when I work out how. Good to be on board finally!

Your avatar is not very big, but what I can see of it, it looks great. I see nothing wrong with your placement of the stars. Are they string pieced or crazy quilt pieced? They look like the stars might be crazy quilt pieced.
Welcome from southern Oklahoma. You will like us here. We have fun and learn a lot, too.

Welcome from rainy Sunbury(bucketing down). That's a nice part of the world you live in. Everyone here is so nice, and helpful.Got a question, jsut ask.Someone will answer, no matter what time of day/night.
I also see nothing wrong with your placement of stars. As for rules, the only rule I know about quilting, is
there are no rules. Enjoy.

Felt bad about last comment i did point out to my son that not all quilters are crazy and memapausal like his mum. Some are quite young, others well past that stage. Some of my best friends were made just by mentioning quilting or thru other quilting friends. Anyone who puts time and energy into beautiful creations can't be too bad. Never met a quilter i didn't like.
:) As far as meeting on line, i pointed out most of his friendships are online.

Hello from Perth, Western Australia. Two of us recently met up while shopping for fabric. Totally random and unexpected. Small world...and yes...sons can be fairly cheeky when it comes to Mum's who Quilt.

There are no rules, just whatever you like, however you like it. The goal: to create something to use, not necessarily something to put in shows.

That would put you in Lilydale, Tolangi, Wooriyallock or Narbethong ( if you go the other way and drive fast) or somewhere in between. I go to a quilting group in Lilydale once a month and also Marysville and buxton, where i recently shifted from :-( .
