Hi Everyone,
I've had a love for quilts from childhood when I would see old quilts that had been "retired" to the family's hunting cabin. I fell in love with Graniteware there too. In addition to quilting I have become a home embroidery junkie. I just killed my arms and shoulders by machine quilting an embroidered baltimore album quilt. It's time to invest in a frame, and so I found this message board while surfing for info on frames. My latest creations can be seen in my quilts gallery at bassy.smugmug.com. Looking forward to learning and sharing with you all. |
Hi Monkey Wrench. Welcome to the board. I hope you'll make lots of friends here. This is a friendly board and very encouraging to new quilters (and old timers). Hope you'll post some of your quilts here, too.

Welcome! Glad you found us!
And the most adorable puppy! His name is? |
I love your signature! That is so me!

Thank you! Your pups are cute too. This is Bombay.
Looking forward to participating in the group. Scott |

Thank you Heather. Bombay is a pistol. To prove it, look at this.....
|
OH! I think he would have soooo much fun with Yukon! He is our goofy one!
Love his blue eyes. Wait till DD sees-she is going to want one! |
Bombay is truly a gift from God.
He is my second Weimaraner. Sebastian was first, and now lives 3 doors away. He is on my web site too. He had horrible separation anxiety, and HAD to be with someone who was home most of the time. It was a painful experience, but he did manage to win a Calendar contest for Weimaraner rescue. Bombay is the opposite. Although he is snuggled between my arms as I reach for the laptop, he has been very patient with me and my insane weeks finishing my parent's quilt and embroidering other Christmas gifts. At 9 months old he is an angel. Likely fulfil another dream of mine.... to have a therapy dog. S. |
Welcome! I love that sweet dog, looks like quite a character.
|
Welcome from Central Illinois. Those are some beautiful quilts!!! Hope you have tons of fun with us and post some pics here too :)

Welcome Scott and Bombay!
I really like your quilts and the embroidery you are doing, especially the Fleur de Lis quilt. Makes me think of Mardi Gras being around the corner! It is good that we are getting more males in the mix here! This is an equal opportunity place! Our guild card is available to download here too! We call ourselves the "Everyone's Welcome Quilt Guild" so be sure to print one up and sign your name. I laminated mine! Looking forward to your other projects posted here in Pics for all of us to admire! Wendy |

From the other guy on here welcome aboard. Great quilts. My work isnt at that level yet but i am working on it.
|
Oh, he certainly is. He will be 9 months old on the 19th. For a puppy he really is a Saint.
|
Hi Lisa, and thanks for the welcome. I'll post some pictures one of these days. There are only a handful of them, and I don't have pictures of all of them (yet). Looking forward to chatting with all of you.

A dull moment? Never. You ought to see what this boy can do when he trails off with a mouthful of pre-wound bobbins. Anyone need wigs for their dolls? LOL!

Hi!
I have gone through 4 embroidery machines in 18 months. First, a Singer Sewing/Embroidery. What can I say other than you get what you pay for. I literally threw this one out of a second story window. Number 2 is the Janome 300E. Embroidery only. Stitches beautifully, when it works. It is plagued with bobbin issues. Number 3 is the Brother 4000D. An awesome machine. I have put 6 million stitches on it in just one year. The D stands for Disney. It is preloaded with Disney designs and will read the Brother Disney Cards. The newest addition is the Brother PR-600. A 6 needle machine that is basically an entry commercial machine. Again, an awesome machine. I've had it since mid October and have 3 million stitches on it. As far as projects go, the most unique and true "works of art" are the Christmas stockings that I did last year. I have pictures of a few and will post them. I've done 3 baby quilts (teddy bears, sea creatures, and noah's ark). Aside from that, sweatshirts, t-shirts, tea towels out the ying yang and so on. Now, aren't you glad you asked? LOL! |
Hi Wendy!
Thanks for the warm welcome. As I look at your picture I think to myself, I need to go out on a limb and piece something with more diamonds. I'm a bigger chicken that the one pictured with Bombay. I hadn't quilted for a very long time. I started with hand quilting, then at a young age developed arthritis. And we all know that we have so much time to tackle the quilting by ourselves. At that time I wasn't impressed with machine quilting, and I really was of the opinion that it was cheating the art. A really neat older woman at one of our local fabric shops convinced me differenty, and after spending some $ on better machines, I'm ok with it now. Good thing.... let the quilting begin. Now where do I find this guild card"? What a hoot. Scott |
Hi Shadow.....
Oh my gosh. This message board is going to spell trouble. It is way too much fun. How do you all balance reading these threads and putting thread through your projects? |
Hi Dawn,
You are too kind. Honestly, I'm sure I need all of you more. If anything I have blessed with an eye for color. More times than not that is what people respond with when they see my things. My piecing and quilting are evolving, but we all know that practice makes perfect (and grey hair, and love handles too). Can't wait to get to know you all and see your work too. Scott |
Hi Minda,
I'm in PA too. Near Harrisburg, Where are you? Scott |
Miranda,
I have to ask.... are you a cake decorator? Butter Cream is my fav. Scott |
Hi!
Glad to be here. Fun and whacky huh? Can't wait! Scott |
Hi Henry!
I ready your introduction and we both have ties to our grandmothers with quilts. It is a unique thing to have in common with your grandmother. Although mine turned me into a pretty good cook too. Let's see some pics! Scott |
there are pics posted in the picture section
|
I'm in NE Central PA and we are having really, really cold weather today. I was checking out your saltwater tanks on line. They are gorgeous. I've had tropical fish almost all of my life up until the last 7 years, but never ventured into saltwater.
|
It is to be in the single digits here tonight too.
Salt water can be intimidating at first, but once you get the system balanced it almost goes on auto pilot. I have 16 clients for whom I care for their tanks. In addition to a full time job with the Department of Public Welfare, and this insane desire to quit, and chasing Bombay around, my days are full. Keep warm - it is to be in the 50s on Saturday or Sunday. Scott |
headed there now!

Here is the link to the Guild Card download. Enjoy! PS the quilt in my avatar has no diamonds! It is squares and half square triangles. Fun and easy to make from McCalls Quilting October 2002. Unless you were looking at my Christmas Diamond quilt? That one is not so easy. I won't tackle diamonds again for a long time! Wendy |
Thanks, Wendy! Great guild card.
I was actually referring to your quilt in the avatar pic. I stand corrected. Even triangles are a bit much for me (kidding, sorta). Scott |
Hi monkey wrench & welcome :!: I'm from western NY near Buffalo & we share alot of the same weather. There is nothing I like better then a really cold, snowy day and being able to stay inside and quilt.
I am a real sucker for any dog or cat too. Give Bombay a hug for me :!: Love his pics. |
Thanks! And who might these two ang
|
Bombay hit the submit key...... Who might those angels be?
|
That is Coco & Cooky (daughter & Ma ). They spend alot of time with me in my sewing room. Always bringing their toys & wanting to play. I love it that you have Bombay there chatting right along with you :!:
