:| Hello, I've been wanting to learn to quilt for a long time. I am an avid sewer but just never got into the quilting until my daughter passed away and I received her sewing machine and all the materials that she had. Among them was cutting mats, cutting graph "boards" (I think that's what they're called) and several rotary cutters. There is so much that I feel inundated with all that she had, and yet she had just gotten into a pen pal program that people shared cut quilt pieces with her and she did the same, and then she died months later. So I want to learn and finish what she started.....with a lot of help from this group.
I live in southeast Georgia and hubby is retired military (Army) all our children are grown and we have several grandchildren and 2 great grands..we are truly blessed. |
A big welcome from the eastern part of Texas. I am sorry to learn of your daughter's passing. May you find pease and comfort as you finish her projects.

Hi and welcome from the sunny state of Florida!! |
Welcome and hello from southeastern West Virginia. I'm so sorry for your loss. I took a quilting class in 1976 six months after the death of my beloved grandmother, an avid quilter, just to feel closer to her. And it did...but 35 years later I'm still hooked. I hope you find a mentor who will help you get started. Please don't get discouraged. Find a local guild...I know there is one close to you....that's probably where you'll find someone eager to mentor you....or a local church group. There's also a great storehouse here in the tutorials. Either way....good luck and God bless you.

A big welcome from north central Florida. I'm so sorry for for all you've been through recently, and I hope that you'll find some comfort as you take on learning new quilting projects. I've only been quilting for about a year, though I have always enjoyed sewing. I've made some amazing quilts already and my mind is constantly buzzing with new ideas and projects. Just ask "us" anytime you need help. Good luck & happy quilting!

Welcome from MidFlorida. I took a course three years ago; really didn't know what I was doing. Thought I would hate quilting. Fooled myself- I love every bit of it. But it wasn't until I joined this quilting board that I learned so much. Stick with it- you too will fall in love.
