Hello, and welcome from Michigan!

Welcome from Wisconsin

Welcome from central FL. I have a Janome but I have to be careful with the top thread. Sometimes the thread winds around the spool holder and it breaks; other times the thread will jump out of the take up arm. Everytime my thread breaks, I completely rethread the machine and that usually helps.

This picture of my Janome shows the needle. The correct way to thread this machine is to bring the thread down to the left side of the needle and under the hook. I was putting the thread on the hook on the right side of the needle. Having the same problems as you described. After threading correctly, had no more trouble. Such a small thing, but what a difference. Hope this might work for you.

Welcome from Houston TX! I know how frustrating a problem like that can be. I have a Baby Lock machine now and just love it.
