Try a small project like a baby size quilt. Cut the squares just do it. You will then take the mystery out of quilting and realize it's just fun to do and no matter what you end up making its yours and it will be beautiful.

Welcome from Virginia, Maybe go to your library and check out all the books they have there. It gives alot of good ideas. This board here is also very good for ideas. But it is also bad for getting any sewing done. Because you will spend all your free time on here!!!! Best of luck with any project you start. Don't take on any giant project at first. Something small, maybe a table runner, pillow, hot-pads, wall hanging. Hang in there, and be very careful with the rotary cutter...

Join a swap for just one block. Some swaps ask you experience level, and you can say "beginner"! It will provide you a deadline and get you out of the "will do someday" mode and help you move into "doing now!" :-)

I agree that the getting started is the hardest part. I'm not actually quilting today. I'm trying to get motivated to make my girls' Easter dresses. I have to say that this quilting community seems to be one of the very nicest of folks around:)
