You can either start with a simple pattern like a nine patch or Warm Wishes or start a sampler, which is a bunch of different patterns and get experience in different techniques. There are some good sampler books out there and I'd suggest getting one. Make sure it is for a beginner so you can understand the lingo. There are lots of free block patterns on line but some of them don't download true to size, I have found. That is ok if the quilt is all the same block but if you have different blocks they need to be the same size to put in a sampler. PM me anytime and if I can help I will. There are many people here with lots of knowledge and willing to help you if you get stuck. I'v quilted for years and I still learn things from the folks on this site. Enjoy and Welcome.

Try a 9 patch. It is very easy and it will give you lots of practice with cutting and seams.

Ditto! froggyintexas
