Hello,
I am going to take my first machine quilting class starting Monday, August 8th. I am washing my fabric as I write this. I soaked my fabric in white vinegar and water overnite. Does that work pretty well? I am looking forward to becoming an avid quilter.

Hi! Welcome and waving from Arkansas! We're happy to have you join the fun. I just throw my fabric in the washer without soaking and haven't had any problems.

Welcome from Miami and yes I have used vinegar, it keeps your fabric from bleeding but I only use it with reds and some batiks.

Welcome from Florida and North Carolina. I usually wash my fabric with regular laundry detergent but with a color catcher. So far that has worked well for me.

Hi and welcome from Lancaster PA. I always pre wash my fabric too. Just do it in the regular wash though. I also do the batting. I just soak it for 20 min. then spin and dry.

Welcome from Glenwood, Il. I have sewn for years but when I wanted to start quilting I took a beginners course--learned so much from it. It was a six block quilt learning something different on each block. I highly recommend a beginners class.

Welcome from Lowell, MA. Congratulations on taking your first quilting class, I'm sure you will have a long love affair with quilting. I normally just throw my fabric in the washer and wash with cold water - it's worked fine for me.
