Hi, there was a tut on here in last day or two (you can use the search engine at top) for amish quilts. There are pics of over 1,000 quilts on this site. They will blow your mind. I have also seen other teachers in geometry use quilts to teach geometry.

Welcome from Illinois and quilting. Also thank you for "teaching" We always need good teachers. You will find all kinds of helpful info here.

Hi from another northeast Ohioan. I'm the Home Ec Club advisor at Maplewood High school about an hour or so south of you, if you're in the Madison that's near Lake Erie.
I'm not aware of any other Home Ec Clubs at any other schools around here. I'd love to share ideas with you.

Greetings from Sacramento area in CA. Oh boy, we have many posts here about the need for math or the use of math in our quilting. Whod'a thunk it way back when...

Have you checked the picture gallery? There are tons of pics by pattern:

Welcome - my sister used to live in Madison and her kids went to Madison High School :) The Longo family :) Don't know how long you have been there, her youngest would have graduated in 04 or 05 :)

You'll see lots of quilts in the Picture Forum here! And yes, I wish I had paid more attention to geometry!

This summer I complete a 10 minute block quilt...easy, fun, and very cute. ;-)

Glad to have another teacher on here! Scale is fun to teach with quilt blocks....I made three quilts once: One with 10" blocks, the same pattern with 20" blocks and then again with 5" blocks. It was strip pieced so the math was easy----my kids loved seeing them!

Whether Home Ec., Consumer science, Homemaking, or FCS, what you teach is very important and useful in life. Hang on, because your students need you!

Hi from Ms.

Welcome from one Ohioan to another. I went through Madison about 40 years ago (seems more like 4 years) and I thought it was such a quaint town at that time because they were having some sort of celebration going on at the time and they were all of these bicycles all over the place.
