Hi Gina, nice to see more Alaska gals on here. I live in Anchorage too. Started quilting last year. Took a class at the Quilt Tree and loved it. Will be starting another one as soon as all fishing is done. All the rain has sure put a damper on the fishing but when you are a fishing nut you go anyway. LOL

Ya and you live in a beautiful state too. I was born and raised in Maine. I think that is why I am in love with Alaska!

Welcome from Ohio.
4 years ago we celebrated our 25th with a land tour and cruise of that beautiful Alaska. The cruise was nice, but I don't care if we never do it again, but the land, OMG. I'd actualy move up there if things were different. My husband works for BP so it's doable, but life turns out the way it does and I just have wonderul memories. I can always, for the rest of my llife, say I flew over the arctic circle. What did I buy for souvenirs? Quilt patterns and fabric!

HAHA! My favorite kind of souvenirs! There are a few nice fabric shops up here, often in the most unexpected places. We went camping this summer way out past Kenai to Discovery State Park, about 30 miles from nowhere. I went to a quilt walk & show in Soldotna (husband sat in the car), & on the way back to the camp site (30 miles!), my DH stopped at a local brewery. While he was sampling the goods, I found a quilt shop & retreat on this beautiful lake in the woods, next to this woman's house. Needless to say, I came home with a few souvenirs of my own! I also won a prize for attending the quilt show! It was a memorable trip for sure.
