Hello everyone. I live in Prescott, Arizona and have only been quilting for a year. I attended a class to learn how to make my first quilt. Then I started getting together with a wonderful group of ladies once a week to do more quilting projects with their help. I find this hobby fascinating - just like painting with material. I love creating that way.
I just discovered this group and started getting the messages. I went to the tutorial section and have already learned some great hints, especially for an easy pinwheel. Thank you for that!! My question is - I'm trying to find a pattern for a quilted jacket that I found at a rummage sale. It is a real quilt (not patches sewn on a sweatshirt). I love the pinwheel pattern blocks down the front of both sides. The rest is vertical panels. Does anyone know where I might find a pattern for that, or should I just copy what I see on that one? Hi Linda, Ruth here in North Carolina, welcome.
That is a darling jacket. |
Hi Linda, welcome from Minnesota!
Gorgeous jacket!! |
welcome!

I have never seen that pattern for a jacket. It may have been an inspiration of the maker. The front looks like 1/2 square triangles sewn together.
Try googling quilted jacket patterns. You will get lots of hits, maybe one will be this pattern if there was a pattern. Good luck! |

Hello from Western Maryland !!
I have seen differnt quilted jackets, they are made from a really simple clothing pattern, & then lay out your blocks & panels to figure out placement on pattern pieces, you basicly make your fabric for the jacket. I would use a size larger than normally wear. I have made vest, many years ago. Hope this helps you in your search. :-) The jacket is very pretty !! |
Welcome from Arkansas:) Sorry, no idea about the quilted jacket pattern.

Hi Linda, from Payson, AZ. We have a lady, Leslie Peacock, that teaches those jackets at the Community College here. They turn out just beautiful. I've made two coats and two vests but my family loves them sooo much, I've yet to get to keep one. I do know she sells her patterns for about $15 each. If you want furthur info, let me know...

Hi Linda, I live in Scottsdale most of the year. We try to summer in Prescott in order to avoid the worst part of the heat and humidity. Does the Prescott Quilting group have a website? Can someone participate seasonally? I would love to meet other Prescott quilters.
The jacket is darling. If you have a background in sewing, you could make a tissue pattern to copy it. Thanks for sharing. JoAnn |
If you are a good seamstress you could easily copy this, remember to add seam allowances :?

Hello
Brenda, I replied to your message yesterday, but haven't seen it pop up nor your answer. So just in case I am not doing this forum thing right, I'll respond this way also. I would love info about the teacher from your college there who sells these patterns - her website or email or ??? Thanks so much for noticing my picture and knowing about this jacket pattern. Linda in Prescott, AZ |
How nice to hear from another Prescott person, even if only part-time. Our little group doesn't have a website or anything. It is just 6 or 7 nice ladies who like to get together weekly and do our projects together. We meet in a church's social room, so there is lots of big tables to spread out on and do the layering of big things more comfortably. When you are going to be up here, just let me know and I'll get you to coming along to it as well. It meets in Prescott Valley actually. You can email me directly to be sure I see your message - [email protected]

There are two quilt guilds in Prescott...Thumb Butte Quilters Guild, and Mountain Top Quilters. They each have a web site. I believe TBQ has several speakers a year and go on road trips. I live in Paulden and am going to investigate both of the guilds soon. A friend and I would like to join one of them. We are with the Chino Valley Quilters at the moment. CV also have smaller friendship groups. I was a snowbird from MT for several years and belonged to the CV guild and a friendship group. Linda's small group sounds like fun.
