Hi, I'm Gayle from Downeast Maine. I live on Bear Cove on Meddybemps Lake. I have been seriously quilting for almost 30 years. I actually got my start when I was about 8. My grandmother gave me a cigar box full of small fabric squares, a spool of thread, a needle and a pair of scissors. I made "blankets for all my dolls. Growing up I sewed all my clothes, but I didn't really do any quilting until many years later.
I work part time at the local community college tutoring math. I have 8 grandkids, 4 girls and 4 boys. I'm looking forward to learning and sharing ideas through this site.

A neighbor. Where in coastal Maine?

I visited a great little quilt shop called Heartworks in Fly Creek, NY. I get their newsletter. We were camping a couple of years ago. It's beautiful country.

I'm in Cushing on the Georges river -- salt water tidal -- near Camden/Rockland.. This will really be the first year that I will have the luxury of joining a group -- altho they stop meeting in June and resume in Sept. I've owned for over 40 years as a "person from away" -- still not "native". I look at my neighbors weather web cam a couple times a week to see what is happening.

I really love Maine and have lived near Portland for 30 years

Where in Germany. We lived in Giessen for 3 years in the late 70's.
