Hi Quilters and Patchworkers alike!

I have loved doing some patchwork for a short while now and enjoy sharing tips and patterns with my quilty buddies here in Australia
Today we are having a National Election - for Australians that means we are voting for the Prime Minister and Cabinet. So its super busy on the television showing who is and isnt getting voted in.
But I am here to say hello and introduce myself as a lover of sewing, beadwork and all sorts of craft.
I am enjoying different Asian styles - such as Japanese Fabrics -Ecletic colourings in my work.;)
I think I have done more bits and pieces for my family and friends and have joined with another friend in making things for charity. At the moment I am sourching a sizing for adult bibs for my local nursing home - so if you have any ideas that would be appreciated :D
Looking for penpals too - send me a link! Love to join a swap place or contribute a square for someone making quilts for charity
So send me a note - I will look forward to it and promise to get back to you too
All the best for a great Saturday 21st August 2010
Diane

Hello Dragonfly, welcome aboard. Yes, aren't we lucky that our elections take 6 weeks and not over 12 months like the US - it's been infuriating, even with Foxtel, and we might have to go through it all again in 3 months tme HELP!!! I don't know what happened to the usual 24-hour blackout of political ads I thought we used to have??

Hello Diane,
Lovely to see yet another Aussie come onboard. I am relatively new to this board myself and am so glad that I found it.
Elections – they sure do seem to come around quickly these days. Will be nothing but election run downs for the next week now and with a hung parliament, probably even longer.
There are lots of lovely and creative people on this board and of course so many “takes” on everything that the ideas will just bounce off you. Great for getting ones creative juices flowing.

I have only kept one of 2 quilts that I have made so far and usually give them away as gifts to friends and family except for the quilts that I make and donate to charity. This year I made a children’s bed size quilt which was raffled to raise money at our local Biggest Morning Tea, for cancer. Have also made and donated for people in need hampers and such.

Some of the Asian fabrics are just gorgeous.
Good luck with your bib making.

Cheers

Hello and Welcome from Louisiana! I've made a few adult bibs that are very similiar to http://www.laurassewingstudio.com/NL/060407/060407.html . One thing different was to place right sides together and sew all around leaving an opening for turning. Leaves a nice clean edge, a spot of velcro does the trick and the little bottom crumb catcher pocket is great!

Craftygirl 08-23-2010 06:34 AM

Hi fabric fairy, I'm from Perth too and so into making bags. What do you do with yours?

belmer 08-23-2010 10:52 AM

Welcome from Minnesota (USA) Sooooo happy you could join us.

Maybe1day 08-23-2010 02:21 PM

I'd love to branch off into making some bags but alas, I have difficulty reading the patterns I have seen so until I can get a handle of reading patterns and putting it into practice or come across a class on bag making, then I guess doing so will stay on my "wish list"
Some patterns will confuse me so I really need to see it done first.
