Hi,

I have lurked at this site for a while and thought I'd register to say hi and so that I can comment on all your lovely quilts!

I am new to quilting, and am just finishing piecing my first top. I am so glad that I started quilting, I suffer from depression and have found sewing to be a good form of therapy.

So, hello everyone!

Welcome from upstate New York!

I agree quilting is a great form of therapy! You get lost in your thoughts while quilting. I have always been interested in quilting but never did any until the last week of November. Don't know how I managed before!

You'll love it here!

Hi from Kentucky! Glad the quilting helps you with the depression. I have battled that for 40 years, so know how you feel. Don't let it get the best of you!! Medication has helped me tremendously.

Welcome from Louisiana! I, too, suffered form depression about 10 years ago. I stopped taking meds for it because it made me feel worse. Sewing and quilting have been my therapy for the last 10 years. And I have to say I have never felt better or more content.

Hello from Central Louisiana :-)

You are not alone with your suffering :-) My boyfriend (now husband) use to tease me when I bought lots of fabric for projects I had yet to plan but NOW he encourages it :-) He knows it makes me feel better to have the potential of a project . . and I am even making him his very own quilt with snakes on it so I think that has something to do with it!

Thank you to everyone for the kind welcome. I'm suprised how many depression sufferers there are here. It gives me comfort that I am not the only one. Thank heavens for quilting, eh?

Welcome from a small town on the Gulf Coast of Texas. I'm so glad we have an international group!

I love England and Scotland (my last name is Dollar and there a town in Scotland by the name of Dollar but no Dollars live there- too funny!). I would live there if I didn't have a family that won't let me leave the states. I am long overdue for another visit. Happy quilting and so glad you have found us!

Welcome fliedermaus from this corner of England,
I know you'll find the folks on this board friendly and helpful. I agree that quilting is great therapy, you seem to able to get yourself lost in what you're doing. Hope happier times are in store for you,
Kind regards Barbara.
