Welcome from Michigan, we were up your way several years ago, and had to visit as many quilt shops as possoble.

You'll never want for things to keep you busy if you stick with this group! Just be careful - this Board is very addictive!!!

To introduce myself, I retired from teaching in May and gave myself permission to be a quilter as a retirement gift. I have sewed all my life and made small projects that could be considered quilting, but I didn't want to take the full plunge until I had more time. I'm here now and thoroughly enjoying myself, but I'm having trouble focusing on one thing at a time. I want to do machine applique, machine quilting, piecing, landscape quilting, ..... Boy is this fun!!

Welcome! Maybe you need to make a machine appliqued landscape with pieced borders, and then machine quilt it! :D

Oh to live in Alaska. How wonderful that must be. Welcome from South Alabama.

Welcome from East TN! I was fortunate enough to live at Eielson AFB with my hubby. First time away from home, married less than 6 months and pregnant. What a way to greet Alaska! I would do it all over again. We also had another baby so we had our girl and boy in Alaska from the time we spent there in 1968-1970. We enjoyed our time there and I took up sewing my daughters clothes as well as my own on my faithful Nelco. Lots of wonderful memories!

greetings from OK...
My daughter was stationed in Fairbanks...she grew up in Ketchikan and Bethel, so was shocked the AF sent her back to AK. At least in Fairbanks she had a road system..ehhehe

I miss AK and am seriously thinking it is time to use up some air miles!

You'll fit in just fine. I think we all have several projects going at once.

Welcome to the board, now WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR???
(lol) Honestly, I don't know how you could have stayed away from quilting for so long, if you knew you wanted to go that way!
Almost 30 years ago, I bought myself a knitting machine (from the "proceeds" of a divorce), with the intent that it would be for my retirement. Since that time, technology has changed so much I'm afraid that purchase won't have been worth it. Add to that, I took up quilting, and love it! I hope someday to have a longarm machine. Trust me, it will not be packed up under the bed, like the knitting machine is.
Hope to see some pics from you soon!

My welcome is a little late, but still just as warm. It seems there are quite a few quilters from the Land of the Midnight Sun on the QB! I notice because my brother and his wife live in Fairbanks too.
Enjoy being on the Quilting Board Kay!

Looks like I'm going to be headed your way in a few weeks  So very exciting! I do know that I saw some very pretty landscape-ish fabrics when I was there a few weeks ago...
