Hello from Houston

Hello there!
I am a newbie to sewing and quilting. I can thread a needle and make a few stitches but that about sums up my knowledge on quilting. I recently purchased a Brother Laura Ashley Limited Edition CX155LA Sewing & Quilting machine. I've had many hobbies but I've always enjoyed creating and crafting. I've lived on Pinterest for the past few days and have watched at least a dozen Youtube videos. I have also found blog tutorials to be especially helpful. Yesterday, I purchased some fabric and hope to find time this weekend to play! I'm sure I will have tons of questions along the way and will be appreciative of your wisdom. Here is the quilt that I have selected to try first. My goal is to have it finished within a month. My two year old is also having a birthday party at the zoo which requires a lot of crafting so that might be a little ambitious but I'm eager so I'm optimistic. I'll post the finished product when I'm finished. Kindly, Ray |

Nice job on your first quilt! This board is a great source of inspiration and you're a bit ahead of the game because Houston has so many opportunities for quilters. Real quilt shops, guilds and the International Quilt Show are all bonuses.

Thanks everyone for the welcome! I am dying to get started.
Also, sorry for any confusion. I believe in giving credit where it is due. The quilt displayed is not of my own work. That is the inspiration that I am using to make my first quilt. That quilt was actually created by Kelly at www.myquiltinfatuation.com. |
