Hello, I've been lurking here for some time, spend absolutely too much time here rather than in my workroom. I've been sewing for many many years, done a few quilts along the way. I was recently part of corporate reorganization, downsizing, etc, and just feel too old to start again so I cashed out my tiny 401k to invest in a mid arm machine to do custom quilting. Wish I had really splurged for a true long arm, but maybe I can do it soon.

Welcome to the board.
Congratulations on purchasing the mid arm. I think you will find you really like it. Years ago, I knew someone that machine quilted on her old domestic machine (1970's) and made a great deal of money. She practiced her craft and really studied it, and made smaller type art quilts and baby quilts for sell and for custom order. You could do this...and also make tee-shirt quilts for customers. I do not know how much income you would require to make you feel as if you are contributing as you did when you "worked"...but absoluting nothing feels as good as working for yourself. Especially when it is your passion. Let me know if I can help you in anyway. Now get to it!!! just jan |
